Shinrin Yoku (Japanese Forest Bathing) in the Woods

Upcoming Dates

Shinrin Yoku (Japanese Forest Bathing)

Strike the perfect balance with forest bathing on the spring equinox at Finnebrogue Woods. This is the time of year when day and night are of equal length, symbolising balance as we enter fully into spring, a time of renewal and growth in both nature and at a personal level.

Shinrin Yoku (Japanese Forest Bathing) emerged in Japan, but its physical and mental health benefits have been endorsed by the NHS Health Research Authority.  A typical session lasts two hours and you will be immersed in the woodlands to take part in a series of sensory meditations; sound, smell, sight, touch and even taste to help you slow down and reconnect with nature in a very deep and profound way.

The immersion will be led by Tony Bailie who is one of the few qualified Forest Therapy practitioners working on the island of Ireland.

Dates & Times:

Sunday 3 May 2026 10am - 12 noon. Celebrate Bealtaine on Sunday May 3rd with Shinrin Yoku at Finnebrogue Woods. In the Celtic calendar the first days in May marked the start of the "light half" of the year. Bealtaine falls midway between the spring equinox and summer solstice.

Saturday 20 June 2026 10am - 12 noon Join Tony for this special event to prepare for the longest day north of the equator.  The 21st June marks the peak of the sun's power and the transition into the warmth of summer.  For the Celts, the solstice was not just a moment in time but a profound celebration of life, fertility, and renewal.
