In the Irish tradition the feast of Samhain (October 31) was the end of the harvest season and the start of winter when portals between this world and the otherworld were opened. It is a time for reflection on what has passed but also a chance to re-root yourself back into nature, let go of what is no longer needed and to prepare for the dark nights of winter and rebirth in the spring.
