Wood Carving
Wood Carving
Wood Carving is such an enjoyable forest craft.
Our Chief Instructor Rob will provide you with an introduction to wood carving, will teach you the various wood types and how to identify them. You will learn how to use starter tools, hone your knife crafting skills & carving techniques.
Rob will take you on a guided walk through the woods and talk through material selection, tree ID and uses for wood carving including soft, hard and food safe woods.
After a gentle forage through the woods, we will gather around the campfire and start carving. Once complete, Rob will teach you the skill of kolrosing, a very old method of giving fine line surface decoration to wood.
After you have incised the design, you will rub in a darkening compound.
This is a wonderful opportunity to spend a peaceful day in nature creating something beautiful that you will cherish for years to come.
